Folk Rock Songstress Celeste Moyers Releases Worldwide Single Punk Rock Show

Austin, TX (Billboard Publicity Wire) June 8, 2009 -- What began as a lackluster evening in small-town Missouri for Austin-based folk rock songstress Celeste Moyers (http://www.celestemoyers.com) became a memorable experience when she walked into a punk rock show. Next to a pizza parlor, between two brick walls and a trash dump, a group of local high school students had gathered to hear a punk band. Unknown to Moyers, the lead singer's mother was dying of cancer. "Be careful of my mom. She's fragile," he said. "A sea of kids parted to reveal a woman sitting in a folding chair, hooked to an IV, taking pictures of her son." Moyers remembers nothing else from the concert except the mother's example to live life to the fullest. "The concert was in September and she died three months later." That Saturday night encounter became the song 'Punk Rock Show,' a single released to radio on Monday, June 8th.

'Punk Rock Show' is part of Moyers' self-titled debut album. An eclectic array of original songs, Celeste Moyers begins with 'Wedding Wishes' and 'Into Loving You.' While these titles may seem sweet, her biting lyrics reveal, 'I know that in the public eye you're not that great' and 'as tears subside your wife sleeps alone in bed.' Tempering her cynicism is 'Pieces,' a tender love song about the beginning of a relationship. Finishing her collection is 'Justice Will Prevail,' a stark reaction to the sordidness of politicians. 'In a field where people make laws, you think you would be treated ethically and protected from workplace abuse, but that is not the case.'

Sought after for years by top modeling agencies, Moyers was a runway/fashion model before becoming a singer songwriter. With her classic style and scathingly upbeat lyrics, Moyers has been likened to a rock and roll Audrey Hepburn or a punk-version of Jackie O. Known for her frank attitude and lyrics, Moyers says "music provides a platform to say things forbidden or difficult to express in conversation." A bright star on the horizon, we watch with anticipation as her talent unfolds.

Moyers resides in Austin, Texas and Nashville, Tennessee with family throughout Missouri. Before becoming a singer songwriter, Moyers worked in Texas politics as a Director of Public Affairs.
